Update hopeful on former Union Tools site

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Village of Frankfort hopes to get an update on the former Union Tools site on Tuesday.

Cleanup along the Industrial Drive site was taking place even before fire struck in August. The State Department of Environmental Conservation will be a part of the meeting as will the board of health.

Village officials are looking for a timeline of progression so that if someone shows interest in building, they will get all of the information they need.

The goal is to get the property fully on the tax rolls and bring jobs back to the area.

"We're going through our budget process now," said Karlee Tamburro, Frankfort Village Clerk. "I'm sure us, as are many municipalities, we're having a hard time this year. To have new business, to have new economic opportunities would be wonderful."

Tamburro said that if there is one area more clean than another, there is a possibility of subdividing the land to start development.
