UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local shop dedicated to selling old merchandise is celebrating 30 years in business.

Vintage Furnishings is in Oneida Square in Utica right by the new roundabout. Owner Jerry Dischiavo has seen a lot of ups and a lot of downs, and calls the new traffic circle a positive change.

Utica Mayor David Roefaro stopped by on Monday to congratulate Dischiavo and wish him well for another 30 years.

Dischiavo says it hasn't always been easy, but he made it.

"Nice feeling having been here and weathered the storm, so to speak," Dischiavo said. "We try to be positive. We are holding our own."

Dischiavo spends a lot of time buying and selling antiques.

He says that a lot of his customers actually come in from out of town, especially for parents weekend at local colleges.
