Two area companies make list of "Fastest Growing"

(WKTV) - Inc. magazine named The Fortus Group number 2349 on its annual 500/5000 list, a ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.

The company is on Genesee Street and is charged with helping nurses find jobs. They have more than 30 employees.

Chobani Greek Yogurt, based in Chenango County, also made the list.

The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy-America's independent entrepreneurs. Unified Payments tops this year's list. The Fortus Group joins Yelp, yogurt maker Chobani,, KIND and famed hat maker Tilly's, among other prominent brands featured on this year's list.

"We are genuinely honored to be recognized among other incredible growth companies, particularly in this challenging economy" said, Michael Maurizio, CEO of The Fortus Group. "To be on the Inc. 500/5000 list is a tribute to our employees, nurses and clients that encourage us to increase performance daily. We strive to be unparalleled in our marketplace, and this achievement provides more incentive to achieve our goals."

In a stagnant economic environment, median growth rate of 2012 Inc. 500/5000 companies remains an impressive 97 percent. The companies on this year's list report having created over 400,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $299 billion.

"Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is," says Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg.
