ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The recession is forcing one local landmark to make some adjustments.

The hours of operation for the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta are changing after Labor Day. Starting September 8, the museum portion of the hall will only be open to the public on days when games or tournaments are being held.

The organization is facing financial woes, and in an effort to try and get out of the red, the hall is also laying off some employees, although they would not comment on how many.

Jonathan Ullman, the President of the Soccer Hall of Fame, said that when it comes to new ways to generate revenue, everything is on the table.

"We need to have a long-term plan and a way of filling our purpose and mission as an organization that will attract contributions and attract donors, and have people believe in our cause and our mission and want to support that," Ullman said.

Ullman credits the local community with the successes the hall has seen, saying the National Soccer Hall of Fame would not exist without the support of Oneonta and the surrounding communities.
