Utica Converters lays off 20 employees

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Layoffs at a local company are hitting close to home for nearly two dozen workers who now find themselves without a job.

Hyosung, the former Utica Converters in West Utica, was forced to lay off 20 workers this month after a more than year-long decline in sales.

The company makes materials used in the manufacture of car tires. The general manager says sales have declined steadily since the second quarter of 2008.
