Congressman Hanna: focus on quality of jobs, not quantity of them

By WKTV News

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Congressman Richard Hanna had a lot to say about jobs while speaking at the Utica Rotary Club Meeting at the Holiday Inn in New Hartford on Friday.

Hanna says he believes we should be focusing on the quality of jobs, not quantity of them.

He said the jobs have to provide a good standard of living so that people can have a car, have a house and put kids through college.

24 million people are either under or unemployed according to the latest national job numbers.

"200,000 new jobs doesn't even address the number of new people coming into the work force," Congressman Hanna said. "It sounds good. It's better than nothing, but it doesn't keep up. So it doesn't even keep up with people coming into the work force."

Hanna also said there is much more work that needs to be done in the way of creating jobs and congress needs to continue to address this issue.
