Layoffs begin for some state employees

By WKTV News

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's not a happy holiday weekend for hundreds of state workers after Governor Andrew Cuomo is pushed forward with a large round of layoffs.

Several DDSO and State Department of Transportation workers are getting word Friday that they are out of a job.

We spoke with local representatives from the Public Employees Federation (PEF).

We're told at least one employee from the Central New York Psych Center is being laid off as well as several DDSO and DOT workers. However, PEF representatives expect to be hearing from more workers throughout the holiday weekend.

In total, 451 PEF members are being laid off statewide. 199 State Department of Transportation workers are getting pink slips.

If you have any questions about layoffs, you are asked to call 1-877-255-9417.
