UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Nanoscience is the theme of an event that is taking place at Mohawk Valley Community College this weekend.

"Nanodays" will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Information and Technology Building.

Nanoscience is the study of objects that are one billionth of a meter in size. "nanodays" is taking place at 300 different locations across the country.

There are a couple dozen displays set up for people to learn more about the science.

On Friday, 4th and 6th graders from Columbus Magnet School in Utica and V-V-S were there checking out all of the exhibits. The students seemed to be very excited to learn about the displays, it's an enthusiam that organizers hope will stay with them as they grow older.

"I think that it's really very important that we engage students in science like this at an early age because there's so much happening in nature, so much to learn and so many solutions that are out there that nano-technologies is providing us and nano-technology encompasses all of the different sciences, life sciences physical sciences as well. So, there's a lot of places that they can draw from," said Bob Decker, the Director of the Engineering Technology Program at MVCC.

MVCC has a two year engineering science program.
