Poland High School announces valedictorian, salutatorian

Poland Central School District has announced the Class of 2012 valedictorian as Carson Burt and the salutatorian as Meghan Kraeger.

School officials are proud of the students for their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck in college.

Burt, who earned a 98.71 grade-point average, will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Honors. He plans to then attend Clarkson University to study chemical engineering.

Kraeger, who earned a 97 grade-point average, also will graduate with a Regents Diploma with honors. She plans to attend the University of Rochester in the accelerated master’s degree program in higher education.

Both students also took challenging courses while at Poland – including multiple College Now classes – and participated in various activities and organizations.

The valedictorian is the son of James and Mary Burt of the town of Russia. The salutatorian is the daughter of Mike and Mary Kraeger of the town of Russia.
