HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Dozens of students walked around the campus of Herkimer County Community College on Tuesday promoting human rights.

It was third annual walk on the campus, with roughly 50 students participating in the one-mile trek. Many encouraged others they came across on their journey to join in, and along the way talked about human rights.

There was also a letter writing segment of the event, where students reached out to lawmakers all over the world.

"We're just trying to make a change," Brittany Lints, a student at HCCC. "And make people that have been unaware of that kind of situation aware of not only what's going on, but let people know they can make a change as well."

The Walk for Human Rights is also dubbed "J'Amnesty," because local band "Monkey and the Crowbar" played music at the event.
