Oneonta voters decide to close one elementary school

ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Voters in Oneonta passed a budget Tuesday night that did not include keeping open one of the four elementary schools in the district.

There was an additional proposition on the ballot that would fund the fourth school, Center Street Elementary, but that was defeated. The school will now close.

According to the school district, the closing of Center Street Elementary will mean the reduction of about 10.5 people. Class sizes will also be increased from 19 to 22 students per class, on average.
