Rome elementary students hold mock presidential election

By WKTV News

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - With just four days to go until the election, one area school is already seeing some results.

The third and fourth grade classes at Gansevoort Elementary School in the City of Rome are holding a mock presidential election on Friday.

The first votes were cast in the morning, with the last scheduled for shortly after 2 p.m. The school which re-opened this year, now has new iPads which the kids are using to vote on.

"The students are very excited and their parents are here, so it's really great," said Cheryl Corr, fourth grade teacher at Gansevoort Elementary School. "It gives them exposure to what will be later in life and it's just world experience."
