Event Description

Colgate University Department of Music is pleased to announce the start of the 2012/2013 Concert Series.

On Sunday, September 16th at 3:30 p.m. Escher String Quartet will perform in Colgate Memorial Chapel. Adam Barnett-Hart and Wu Jie, violin; Pierre Lapointe, viola and Dane Johansen, cello will perform Purcell Chacony in G Minor (arr. Britten); Britten Quartet No. 2; Gesualdo (arr. Pierre Lapointe) Se la mia morte brami, Illumina faciem tuam.

Colgate Professor of Music, Laura Klugherz, will join the ensemble for Mozart’s Viola Quintet in G minor.

The Escher Quartet has received critical acclaim for its individual sound, unparalleled artistry and unique cohesiveness. The Quartet has performed at prestigious venues and festivals across the United States and abroad, including Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. As BBC’s ‘New Generation Artists’ for 2010-2012, the Escher recorded for BBC in fall of 2011 and Spring 2012.

The concerts are free and all are most welcome.
