25th annual Poland Science Fair

By JASON POWLES

POLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - Poland Central School held its 25th annual Science Fair on Thursday, with seventh through eleventh graders participating with 97 projects on display.

The judges are made up of professionals and former educators from around Central New York, who look at projects in the categories of math/tech, natural and physical sciences.

Kevin Ford is in charge of the fair and says he and the judges learn something new from the students every year and the kids explore things they don't always touch on in the classroom.

"It is a lot of work and it's a lot of fun," Ford said. "To see the kids do something that they like to do, maybe they see a problem in every day life. They wonder what is the answer to that question and they can explore it and see what they can come up with."

More than $3,700 in prize money is set to be handed out in a ceremony Thursday night.
