High profile rockers taking the stage at NYS Fair

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival, featuring some of music's most successful rockers, will be coming to the New York State Fair as part of the 2012 Grandstand concert series.


"The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is a great addition to the Grandstand line-up this year," said Dan O'Hara, State Fair director. "The artists participating are some of the best names in rock music today."


The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival will feature three stages: Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, Papa Roach, and Adelitas Way will perform on the Main Stage; Fozzy, Mindset Evolution and Candlelight Red will perform on the Ernie Ball Stage; Deuce, Redlight King, and In This Moment will perform on the Jagermeister Stage. The festival will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25.


Main Stage performers Shinedown are no stranger to the New York State Fair - their 2009 performance at Chevy Court brought a crowd of an estimated 12,000. They are currently coming off their fourth studio release Amaryllis. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and features the groups 7th consecutive #1 on rock radio, "Bully." 2008 brought the band mainstream success with their album The Sound of Madness and the single "Second Chance," which was certified platinum twice.


Godsmack is considered one of the definitive alternative hard rock bands in contemporary music. Their 13 year legacy includes selling over 15 million albums, four platinum records, 18 chart-topping singles, and four Grammy nominations. Their last three studio releases, Faceless, IV, and The Oracle have been consecutive number ones on the Billboard200. Their hits include "I Stood Alone," "Voodoo," "Awake," and "Whatever." They released their first live album, Live & Inspired,on May 15, 2012.


Staind is a multi-platinum hard rock band that has sold over 15 million records worldwide. They have had four number one songs, including "It's Been Awhile," which became one of the most popular rock songs of the past decade. Their latest single, "Not Again," from their self-titled 2011 release has been their fastest growing No. 1 single in the bands history.


With six studio albums and a decade of success in rock music,  Papa Roach is a favorite among fans as well as critics. Their most recent album, Time For Annihilation... On the Record and On the Road debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Independent Rock chart. The album included the single "Kick in the Teeth," which spent over four weeks in the Top 10 in Active Rock radio format. The group's other singles include "...To Be Loved," "Scars," and "Last Resort."


Adelitas Way are coming off of their second studio album, Home School Valedictorian which included the No. 1 song "Sick." Their other singles include "Invincible," Last Stand," The Collapse," and "Criticize."


Ticket prices are $55, $45 and $35 and will go on sale Saturday, July 7 from 9 a.m. until noon at the State Fair Box Office. Tickets will also be sold online through Etix, or by calling 1-800-514-3849. There will be a $3.75 service fee for tickets purchased online, over the phone or at the box office.All Grandstand tickets will include your admission to the Fairgrounds if purchased prior to the date of the concert.


Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is the third announced event at the State Fair Grandstand planned for the 2012 Fair. Jason Aldean with opener  Luke Bryan will perform Aug. 31 and Keith Urban with opener David Nail will perform Aug. 24.


More New York State Fair concerts will be announced soon. The 2012 Fair will run from Aug. 23 to Sept. 3.
