It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a...Conan O'Brien blimp!

MOHAWK VALLEY, N.Y. (WKTV) - It was more than just the orange leaves of Autumn that graced the skyline Friday as morning commuters caught a glimpse of a bright orange blimp promoting Conan O'Brien's talk show flying high in the skies above the Mohawk Valley.

"Matter of fact I was driving down 5S wondering what the heck is that," said area resident Rebecca Slawson.

The orange blimp, simply reading "Conan," with the logo for the TBS network on which it airs beside it in a smaller font, could be seen flying above Route 5 in Schuyler around 8:40 a.m. Friday morning and was spotted in West Frankfort just a few moments later around 8:45 a.m. By 9 a.m. Friday morning, it was spotted by numerous students and staff high above the hill that sits Herkimer County Community College just a short time after.

One eagle-eyed youngster caught a glimpse of the sight, even if his parents didn't quite see it.

"Oh my 2 year old says 'I see a orange airplane, mom' as I'm driving," said area resident Michelle Burton. "I said 'no, silly. Airplanes aren't orange.' This must have been what she'd seen."

The blimp was leaving the area en route for the tri-state area where it will hover in the air over baseball games. It came to the area roughly a week and a half earlier as a Clue Cross blimp, on September 21.

Landing at Griffiss International Airport in Rome that day, the blimp had work done at Premiere Aviation Overhaul. In the days that followed, the crews at Premier stripped the blimp of its Blue Cross advertising and covered it with its new "Conan" advertising.
