By WKTV News

SYRACUSE, NY(WKTV) - The New York State Fair announced Tuesday that Grammy-winning country and pop band lady Antebellum will perform at the fair's grandstand September 2nd at 7:30pm

Lady Antebellum will return to the New York State Fair in 2011 as part of the Grandstand concert series, putting on a bigger performance and following up on its 2010 appearance that drew an estimated 30,000 people to Chevy Court.

The Grammy-winning band will perform on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand. Sunny Sweeney will open for the show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7. They will cost $45 and $35.

"Lady Antebellum continues to be one of the hottest country bands in the nation, winning numerous awards and taking its music to new heights," said Dan O'Hara, New York State Fair director. "We are thrilled that the band is coming back to the Fair to play at the Grandstand. It is going to be a great concert."

Lady Antebellum burst onto the music scene in 2007 with the mega-hit "Love Don't Live Here." "Lookin' For A Good Time" followed in 2008 and in the summer of 2009 the group scored its first No. 1 hit with "I Run To You." With the release of the band's second studio album "Need You Now," the group catapulted into crossover stardom as its title track "Need You Now" went No. 1 on the country, pop and adult contemporary charts. "American Honey" and "Our Kind of Love" have since gone to No. 1, giving the group four consecutive No. 1 hits. The group's latest single, "Hello World," is rapidly moving up the country music charts.

In just four short years, Lady Antebellum has scored numerous country and pop music awards including several Grammy awards earlier this year. At the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards, Lady Antebellum was named the Top Vocal Group of the Year and won Album of the Year, receiving both awards for the second year in a row.

The trio is scheduled to sing on American Idol Thursday.

Sunny Sweeney is an up-and-coming country music artist who debuted in 2007 with her album "Heartbreaker's Hall of Fame." She is expected to release her second studio album in summer 2011.

Tickets to see the concert will be available at the New York State Fair Box Office on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and through Ticketmaster. Admission to the Fair is included with the advanced purchase of a Grandstand concert ticket on the day of the show. Sales will be limited to eight tickets per person for the first week of ticket sales.

The Box Office, which charges no service fees, will not be open again until the next on-sale date. Regular hours will begin in early July. No one will be allowed to line up to buy tickets before 6 a.m. on May 7.

Ticket sales will be cash only at the State Fair Box Office as long as there is a line of customers. Credit cards (MasterCard and Visa) will be accepted after the line is gone.
