Almost a decade in the making, Equine Rehab Center officially opens in Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - There are healing horses in Morrisville at a brand new state of the art facility.

Almost a decade in the making, the Morrisville State College Equine Rehabilitation Center has officially opened on Route 20.

The equipment there helps horses with an injury recover or keeps healthy horses in shape. The instructors teach students all about horses and they put those skills to work using water therapy. There are associate and bachelor degree programs tied to the center.

It's not exclusive to the school, and the facility is open to the public.

"We're looking forward to providing services to outside horses, and they can be performance horses, race horses, companion horses, and we're looking forward to this facility being a very collaborative effort among veterinary professionals..and the equine community," said Karin Kohl, manager and adjunct instructor.

The center offers three different types of water therapy for horses - the swimming pool, an underwater treadmill - and a cold water salt spa therapy unit.
