Blood drive held at Mohawk Valley Community College

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica held their annual Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday.

Representatives say there is a shortage not only in this area, but across the state, as Hurricane Sandy has led to the cancellation of almost 380 blood drives across the country.

"The benefit is having a worldwide community view that we all belong to," said Red Cross Operational Supervisor Jean Crouthamel. "So we have to help one another. If you are in an accident and needed blood, you would want it to be there and this is a way to get it there."

The drive continued until 5 p.m. at MVCC's Alumni College Center building.

A list of upcoming blood drives in the area can be found at the Red Cross Blood Drive Website
