NORWICH, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate man has admitted to killing the
manager of his apartment building earlier this year.
Forty-six-year-old Daniel Brown Senior yesterday entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder in the killing of 45-year-old Tammy Periard of Norwich.
Brown told a judge in a Chenango County court that he was coming off a heroin high when he attacked Periard during an argument inside his apartment. Brown says he slammed her into a pillar before strangling and raping her.
Periard's body was found inside the apartment a couple of days after her family reported her missing in late March.
In September, Brown rejected an offer to plead guilty to reduced charges.
He'll be sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in state prison or a maximum life imprisonment when he returns to court on December
14.
