Hunting accident sends one man to the hospital

Laurie Benedict

Hunting season is here and while most hunters know how to stay safe, accidents can happen. That was the case in Otsego County this weekend, and now one man is facing some serious charges for shooting another hunter.

According to Otsego county officials, Marc Macvean of Michigan is recovering from gunshot wounds to his back and abdomen. Officials say Macvean was shot by 20-year-old James Person of Gloversville.

Both hunters were in stationary positions, in full camouflage and unaware that the other was nearby.

Person now faces two felonies including assault in the second degree and reckless endangerment. He is also charged with taking an illegal deer, because his license was not for this region.
