11th Annual Football Tailgate Party held to benefit the United Way
By WKTV News

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Waterfront Grille in Herkimer once again hosted the annual Tailgate Party to benefit the local chapter of the United Way.

The owners of the Waterfront Grille, once again donated all of the food, so all proceeds could go to United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica.

Burgers, hot dogs and other traditional tailgate foods were served as a packed house watched Sunday's NFL playoff games.

Assemblyman Mark Butler of Newport helps put this event on each year. Sunday afternoon Butler told NEWSChannel 2 he is glad to help an organization he says does so much for so many in our area "Since the merger of The Valley and the Greater Utica United Ways, I think we wanted to demonstrate clearly that The United Way is still a very strong presence here in the valley. They do a lot of great things and this really our way of letting people know that The United Way is really still strong here in the Mohawk Valley."

No word yet on exactly how much money was raised.
