Village of Clinton reacts to death of Edward Bogan

CLINTON - Calling hours for Edward Bogan, the 80-year-old Clinton man who was killed on Friday, continue tonight in the Village of Clinton.

And as hundreds turn out to pay their respects to Bogan's family, the community tries to come to grips with an unthinkable reality.

It was unseasonably warm and sunny in Clinton today - an ironic backdrop for a community trying to make sense out of a horrible tragedy.

Bogan, by all accounts a beloved community member, was killed, and his own grandson charged with the crime. As dozens poured into the Owens and Pavlot Funeral Home today to pay respects to Bogan and his family, there remains an untold story.

Those who knew the accused, Kevin Adams, best say he was a good kid who was close with his grandfather. Many are speculating that Adams may have been suffering from an undiagnosed medical condition.

To say the Village of Clinton is a tight knit community would be an understatement. Those spoken to say they will rally behind the family with whatever support they can give, all while trying to accept the unimaginable as reality.

"They have a great burden they will always have to carry," said Ernest Randall, a friend of Edward Bogan. "I do feel sorry for them. How do you explain to someone something like this."

Funeral services for Bogan are scheduled for Tuesday. Bogan's grandson, Kevin Adams, is expected to be in New Hartford Town Court for a felony hearing on Wednesday.
