State police out of Oneida are now ruling a once suspicious death in Vernon as a homicide.

So far they have not released much information surrounding the death of Joseph Giacona.

State police say autopsy results allowed them to confirm that Giacona's death is indeed being treated as a homicide. They would not release what information they knew to lead them to that conclusion.

A relative found the body of Giacona in a building at 17 North Sconondoa Street on Thursday. Locals who knew the man said they were shocked and Giacona was always nice to everyone. We confirmed through family members that giacona lived with his two sons and his fiance.

No word on whether any arrests have been made in the case.
