Local attorney rejects plea offer in her own grand larceny case

UTICA - A local attorney charged with grand larceny has rejected a plea offer in Oneida County Court today.

Local attorney Mary Helene Hamlin stands accused of grand larceny for allegedly stealing $357,000 from a former client. Prosecutors say the money was stolen from John Hatfield Sr. between February 2003 and December 2004.

Hatfield has since died.

A plea offer was extended to Hamlin earlier this month. Today she chose not to take it.

Motions are now scheduled for February 22.
