Utica Zoo Monday Nights begin this week

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - With the economy the way it is, it's always nice to get something for free, but how about a free night out?

That's what the Utica Zoo is giving area residents this summer, at least once a month.

The Zoo is holding Utica Zoo Monday Nights again this year.

The first is set for this Monday, June 11th.

They will also be held on July 9th, August 13th and September 17th.

Zoo Education Director Mary Hall says it's the Zoo's way of helping out. Hall said, "we wanted to give something back to the community. There are a lot of families that can't come during the day or can't afford it."

Hall says the Utica Zoo Monday Nights were held for the first time last year, and each of the nights saw large crowds. She says, "night time is a good time to come because it's cooler usually. The animals are a lot more active."
