Darnell Howard Trial: Closing arguments begin

By By EVAN WHITE

UTICA - Jurors will soon have the case in their hands after one day ago, 18-year-old Darnell Howard took the stand in his defense. Today, the defense and prosecution had gave their final thoughts.

The defense touched on each piece of testimony they had found to be inconsistent, including whether Darnell Howard spit at Officer Dzenan Sabanovic or connect on punches he admitted throwing.

Prosecutors began by saying what Howard did was unlawful and that officer Sabanovic suffered injuries at the hands of this defendant and two others.

Once Judge Michael Dwyer gives the final instructions to the jury, deliberations will begin.

If convicted for assault, Howard faces up to seven years in prison.
