HERKIMER - The American Red Cross Mohawk Valley Chapter's largest fund raiser of the year is officially under way, as Monday morning they announced the award recepients at their upcoming Annual Heroes Breakfast.

Here's a look at the winners and the categories:

*Ken Palmer - Emergency Responder's Award

*Bruce Risley - Mary Haggerty Award

*Sophia Sokol and LF Blood Services Group - Blood Services Award

*Jordan Heath - Youth Leadership Award

*Leonard Gilbert - Clara Barton Award

*Jim Watts - Military Service Award

You can see they range from military service to a Blood Service award. At the breakfast it was announced who's been nominated and from what category.

Having an event like this is important to the chapter because it gets the community involved.

"I know the past recipients before," said Judy Hummel, the overall honoree for 2008. "And to be in their group, as one of the other heroes has been such an honor for me."

The Heroes Breakfast will be held at Herkimer County Community College. This is the 11th year for this fund raiser.
