Man sentenced for buying gun Walter Richardson used to kill Officer Joseph Corr
CHESTER, PA - Michael Flamer, 22, of Chester, PA, was sentenced this morning to 4 years in Federal Prison for making an unlawful purchase of a handgun that was subsequently used by Walter Richardson to kill New Hartford Police Officer Joseph Corr. According to New Hartford Police Chief Raymond Philo, Flamer appeared for sentencing in Federal Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Flamer was indicted in April 2007 after a yearlong investigation into the murder of Officer Corr. He pleaded guilty in December 2007. Flamer pleaded guilty to buying a .40 caliber handgun for an individual who could not legally possess a gun due to Federal Law. This is referred to as a "Straw Purchase" according to Chief Philo. That gun found it's way into the hands of Walter Richardson who shot Officer after he responded to a robbery call at the Lennon W.B. Wilcox Jewelry Store on the evening of February 27, 2006.
