UTICA - It's been a busy day for jurors in the trial of Bradley Stanistreet and Kevin Stolarcyk, two men accused of beating Carl Hill to death in August 2007.
Six new witnesses took the stand Thursday, as well as two other witnesses who were examined Wednesday. Those two witnesses were Cory Adam and John Almanza. They already took a plea deal in the beating death of Hill, and part of that deal was to testify against Stanistreet and Stolarcyk.
Thursday, the defense got the chance to finish their cross-examination.
Some of Adam's testimony didn't quite match with what the pathologist - Dr. Michael Sikirica said about his findings in the autopsy. Sikirica says most of Hill's injuries were around the left side of his brain, hardly anything in the front, back or right side.
According to Adam, he and Stanistreet hit Hill with fists and the 8-Ball in a sock all over his head. Adam also said another person kicked and punched Hill in the face, around his mouth and nose.
However, autopsy results showed no bruises on his face, which Sikirica says would have remained on Hill's face even though the autopsy was done days after Hill was admitted into the hospital.
Then, John Almanza took the stand. His testimony did corrobrate with the results of the autopsy, when he described Stanistreet taking a swing at Hill with the 8-Ball.
"He swung the poolball and it wrapped around his neck," Almanza said. "He said it wrapped around his head and hit him on the left side of his head...the temple."
Many more witnesses took the stand today, including two investigators with the Oneida County Sheriff's Department.
Final witness testimony will wrap up Friday. And it's not sure if Stanistreet or Stolarcyk will be taking the stand in their own defense.
