Maplewood Garden Apartment tenants will not be evicted

Tenants in a Rome apartment complex are now protected from being evicted. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has obtained a court order to stop the owner of Maplewood Garden Apartments from wrongfully kicking out its tenants.

The owners are said to have evicted several renters to begin building renovations. Cuomo's office is also investigating the landlord's alleged failure to keep proper records of the tenant's security deposits.

Trust me I know all about Security Deposit. Where I just left, they kep $100 of it for reconditioning fee, so they could clean. When I left, the place was cleaner than when I moved in. The cleaning lady was still in my apartment for 5 days after my move in date. AND, they did not give me interest back on my security deposit.

Never feel you are just out of luck when some crooked landlord thinks they are going to keep your security Deposit for one ridiculous reason or another.I have utilized the Atty Generals office on a few occassions and they ensured we received the money back and quickly.Never assume your supposed to just let them keep it.Also your money should be placed in a seperate bank acoount.NOT the landlords personal account.Ever get a personal check back for your Deposit???? ;=))
