Reaction from residents living in Rome apartment complex threatened with eviction

ROME - Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is going up to bat for tenants who were threatened with eviction from a Rome apartment complex. Now, reaction from the people who live there..

Investigators from the Attorney General's office came to Maplewood Apartments after getting several complaints from tenants. What they found was a company trying to wrongfully evict the people who call these apartments home.

It all started with a letter. MHS Management Group of Long Island requested all tenants to move out by the end of March. Aware that their leases were binding, residents say they were outraged that they were being kicked out.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo released this statement: "

II have a long standing commitment to fair housing, and my office will continue to take action against irresponsible landlords who maintain an out of sight, out of mind mentality with litter regard to their tenants."

Even though the attorney general was able to stop the wrongful evictions, many of the tenants say they're moving out to avoid increasing rent.
