Local leaders are reacting to the news of the new governor taking over just hours after he was sworn in. They say his first order of business will be the budget which is due in two weeks. Secondly, he will have to deal with revitalizing the upstate economy.

The question is how can all this be accomplished. Former Governor Spitzer proposed one billion dollars to solve economic issues in the Upstate region. Only time will tell as lawmakers attempt to trim or remove some of that. Assembly members from both sides of the isle continue to discuss the importance of cooperation.

Everyone of them that we spoke with praise Paterson as a potential unifying force whose leadership skills will be put to the test over the next two weeks.

Resolutions have been passed for the budget in both the Assembly and Senate. Over the next two weeks there will be a lot of negotiations taking place.
