NY investigators asked to wait for federal probe of Spitzer case
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Federal prosecutors are asking New York
authorities to hold off investigating the call-girl scandal that led to Gov. Eliot Spitzer's resignation while a federal probe continues. A spokesman for the state Inspector General's office says they've been in contact with the U.S. attorney's office, which asked them not to do anything because federal investigators are looking into all aspects of the case. One question is what was known by the trooper detail that was responsible for Spitzer's security round the clock. State Police have declined to comment. Federal prosecutors have charged four people with operating a prostitution ring that received money from Spitzer's bank account. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
