Science Day at Hamilton College opens up the minds and curiosity of Elementary students
CLINTON - It's Science Day at Hamilton College for students from Wettel Elementary school. These sixth graders are learning hands-on lessons from college professors in all areas of science including physics and psychology. And no science day would be complete without handling snakes, snapping turtles, and even an alligator. The highlight was a simulated volcano erupting outside of Hamilton's Science Building. Professors are hoping the day will teach kids that science is fun. "I think science is accessible at any level," said David Gapp, professor of biology. "A lot of what we do is just neat. It opens up the curiosity." "Science Days" are part of a small outreach program for local elementary and middle school students. Wettel Elementary school is part of the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill School District. The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of NBC-WKTV News Channel 2.
