Leadership changing at air-defense center at Griffiss Park

ROME, N.Y. (AP) - The command center in charge of air defense
for the eastern United States is getting a new leader.

Col. John Bartholf, currently second in charge of the Northeast
Air Defense Sector, will take charge as its commander during a
ceremony at its central New York headquarters next Friday.

He will replace the current commander, Col. Clark Speicher, who
is retiring.

The Northeast Air Defense Sector, located at the former Griffiss
Air Force Base in Rome, is the command-and-control center
responsible for air defense of the eastern United States.

Col. Dawne Deskins, currently deputy commander of support, will
replace Bartholf as vice commander.
