I have a student loan and have called the "offset" hotline at 1-800-304-3107 and have discovered there are NO OFFSETS on my SSN. Now I have been told that because I had the tax prep fee taken out of my initial tax refund...I will be getting a CHECK in the mail even though I have direct deposit.

Those of you who have questioned the H&R block emerald card here is how it works. If you got your refund DD on card through H&R block with RAL or RAC which the fees are taken from your refund first then deposited to your card then you'll get a paper check. If you filed online or payed for the H&R block fees upfront out of your own pocket, the the IRS deposited your refund onto the card, you'll get DD. You can check online at IRS.gov for when you'll receive your money.

IF, you owe back taxes or some other non-federal tax obligation like a student loan you WILL NOT be receiving a Stimulus Check. Your Stimulus payment will be treated like a regular tax refund and offset to pay the debt. Just another way the US government screws its own people...How is that helping to stimulate the economy? Wasn't the purpose of the Stimulus Package Program to get money into the ECONOMY and ward off a recession and out of UNCLE SAM's Pocket? Read the FAQ's On the IRS website.

You get the stimulus payment if you filed your taxes for 2007. You must file a tax return to get the stimulus pmt. You don't get it if you're someone else's dependent and you were over age 17 on Dec. 31st. You get it direct deposited if that's the choice you made on your tax return. If you chose a paper check for your return, that's how you'll get your stimulus money. A lot of questions here. Go to the FAQ page for stimulus payments on the www.IRS.gov web page. All of the answers are there:)

As long as you made more than 3,000 income you qualify for the rebate.weather you paid in or got a rebate as long as you have 3000 in income and filed your 2007 tax return you will qualify!! If you are married it will go by the person listed FIRST on the tax return.
