Three charged in Marcy Credit Union robbery
MARCY - According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department, the three suspects in the bank robbery at Beacon Federal Credit Union on Old River Road in Marcy on Tuesday afternoon have all been apprehended. At approximately 2:30 p.m., the robbery had occurred and the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. Sheriff Deputies, K-9 Units, Forensic ID unit, and members of the Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene along with members of the New York State Police. According to Sheriff Daniel Middaugh, a white male suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money and stating he had a weapon. The teller handed over the money to the suspect which was approximately $11,000. The suspect fled the bank on foot, running across a field where he then got into a red mustang which was waiting down the road. The vehicle then took off on Old River Road towards Rt. 291 where it was last seen. An extensive investigation then ensued which developed leads as to who the possible suspects were. A BOLO (Be On the Lookout for) was put out for a 1960's red Mustang which was later recovered in a garage located on Ney Ave in the Village of Yorkville by the Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Unit. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime and garage it was found in belonged to a relative of one of the suspects. The Sheriff's Office and local police agencies were on the look out for the two male suspects and one female suspect who were identified through witnesses. Sheriff's Investigators conducted interviews of family members and friends of the suspects in hope that the suspects would turn themselves in. Investigators received a call at night that two of the suspects had wanted to turn themselves in. At approximately 10:30 p.m., Sheriff's Investigators responded to the Days Inn on North Genesee Street in Utica, where Ricardo L. Carollo, 19, of Yorkville, and his girlfriend, Jessica A. Tomb, 18, of Hastings, were taken into custody. The third suspect, Joseph S. Cittadino, 22, of Floyd, had fled the hotel prior to the Sheriff's Investigators arrival and was heading to Albany by way of taxi. The Sheriff's Investigators pursued Cittadino to Albany where he got into another cab service and headed to the bus station. The local authorities, Albany Police Department, and New York State Police received a BOLO for the suspect. New York State Troopers located Cittadino at the bus station. Oneida County Sheriff's Investigators who were in the area responded to the bus station where Cittadino was taken into custody. Part of the proceeds from the robbery were recovered. According to Sheriff Middaugh, all three suspects have been charged with robbery in the first degree. They were processed and arraigned in the Village of New York Mills Court before Judge Glenn and committed to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or bond. The three are scheduled to return to court on April 14th at 4:30 p.m. The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of NBC-WKTV News Channel 2. It doesn't mean your stupid. I catch myself all day making typing errors but my work don't have to be published in such a short period of time. It's probably a lot of pressure to have stories written so quickly. I always say I should have been a proof reader. The on air messes aside, they should at least be spelling correctly. And wording things correctly. It really is quite ridiculous. These are supposedly people with degrees. I have to say Joleen does a great job though. A true professional. And of course the police should be thanked and congratulated. I think that's a given.
