Memorial for Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey marks one year anniversary of his death

By

On Saturday night Utica Police Officers and family of Officer Thomas Lindsey packed the pews at Our Lady of Lourdes church for a memorial service.

One year ago they had to come to grips with losing him, and now they are finding a way to move on.

On the anniversary of her son’s death, Officer Thomas Lindsey’s mother couldn't even get into the church before she was moved to tears. Lindsey's brother says it’s been that emotional for the past year.

Saturday night uniformed officers from all over the area filed into Our Lady of Lourdes for Lindsey’s memorial mass.

Inside the church, Lindsey’s family was surrounding by several dozen uniformed UPD officers, members of the district attorney's office and citizens from around central New York.

It was an event that was needed for all after a trying year....a "roller coaster of emotions" as some put it.
