18 charged in Oneida County for unemployment and welfare fraud

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. - Oneida County District Attorney Scott D. McNamara announces the arrests of 18 individuals charged with committing crimes against revenue, including welfare and unemployment fraud.

The arrests were made as part of Operation Tax Burden which is a continuing effort of the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the U.S. Marshall’s NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, Utica Police Department, New Hartford Police Department, New York Mills Police Department, the NYS Division of Parole, the Oneida County Department of Social Services, and the NYS Department of Labor.

“Operation Tax Burden will continue to pursue those who illegally and fraudulently obtain welfare and unemployment benefits. For anyone out there who is currently stealing from the taxpayers of Oneida County, now is the time to stop, contact DSS and make it right. If you are cheating the system, it will catch up to you.” says Assistant District Attorney Bernard L. Hyman Jr.

The following people were arrested and arraigned on the following charges:

Mohammed A. Alsaad of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,885 in public assistance benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.

Gina M. Chambrone of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,263 in Food Stamps and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.

Crystal L. Daprano of Verona is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $3,506.50 in unemployment insurance benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree.

Kayla M. Dylis of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,540.61 in daycare benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.

Angela Gonzalez of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $2,350 in public assistance benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.

Alvin Jackson of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,439.91 in food stamp benefits and Medicaid benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.

Sandra L. McNeil of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $785.50 in public assistance benefits and is charged with Unlawfully Receiving Public Assistance and Care and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.

Kendell T. Neal of Remsen is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,493.00 in food stamp benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.

Tracy L. Neal of Remsen is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,493 in food stamp benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree.

Bernard R. Palmer of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $974.60 in food stamp and public assistance benefits and is charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree and Unlawfully Receiving Public Assistance and Care.

Hurija Perhatovic of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $945 in food stamp benefits and is charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree and Unlawfully Receiving Public Assistance and Care.

Sarah E. Petrie of Poland is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $3,290.29 in Medicaid benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree.

Andre P. Reed of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $5,852.25 in unemployment benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree.

Shane Seeman of Clayville is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,376 in food stamp benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree.

Staci Seeman of Clayville is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $1,376 in food stamp benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.

Meksida Smajlovic of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $6,467.69 in food stamp and Medicaid benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree.

Jennifer A. Szczesniak of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $3,006 in food stamp benefits and charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree.

Marshall T. Williams of Utica is accused of wrongfully obtaining approximately $2,676 in food stamp benefits and is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree.

Others are still being sought as part of the ongoing Operation.
