Brush fire rekindles late Thursday night.

Andrew Donovan

A brush fire in Deefield that caused more than 1700 National Grid customers to lose power rekindled late Thursday night.

A spokesperson for Oneida County Emergency Services says sparking wires caused the brush fire earlier in the day. Maynard and Deerfield Fire Departments are currently on the scene.

WKTV Studios were running on generators for over an hour on Thursday afternoon. Maynard and Deerfield Fire Departments along with National Grid worked together to fix the problem. Power was back on but again, late Thursday night the fire rekindled.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department a portion of Walker Road was shut down temporarily, just past Smith Hill Road. However it is now re-opened.
