Angel Food Ministries looks to provide more food to those struggling

UTICA - Angel Food Ministries started as a not-for-profit offering food for discounted prices to low-income families. A local outreach ministry called "Kids for Utica" offers Angel Food.

While Angel Food Ministries originally provided to those with low income, today anyone can buy the food products. Kids for Utica says the program provides families with $60 worth of food for $30.

Kids for Utica Pastor Karen Sallee says the program is a way for people who struggle to feed their families to provide more. New menu's arrive monthly from Angel Food Ministries. Each menu has different meats, vegetables and other food products.

"For the first order we had 16, but we have another church that is going to bring us other orders, and another church that is going to bring us orders, plus what we have this months, ourselves, and we will have at least double if not triple," Sallee said.

Sallee went on to say orders are placed during the first week of the month and the food comes in by the third week of each month.

People can stretch their dollars by utilizing compassion coalitions store on lafayette street as well... it works wonders. You can buy food there every day of the week at discounted prices.
