State Police: Body found in Brookfield is missing Waterville hunter

By EVAN WHITE

State Police have confirmed that the body of a missing Waterville man has been recovered.

Four months ago Greg Williams went on a hunting trip and never returned.

State Police say they are confident a body found near train tracks off Swamp Road and Main Street in Brookfield New York late Tuesday morning is the body of Williams.

State Police are expected to hold a news conference Thursday to shed more light on their findings.

An autopsy is scheduled for later today.

After thinking for so long that Greg had just left town, finding out about his death is a tradgedy not only to his family but to the people in his community. It is very upsetting knowing that he will never be around to watch his daughter graduate. She was doing very well, and I hate to have to see her go through this all over again. My condolence's go to Greg's family. I am very sorry for your loss.

My condolences go to Lauren and kids. There are no train tracks in Brookfield, unless you are talking about the township of Brookfield.

Actually I believe that they never actually knew for sure where he went hunting. He never said in his note, only that he had in fact gone out. They just assumed he was missing in the state lands because he liked to hunt out there USUALLY.

I believe that the location mentioned "near train tracks off Swamp Road" is actually in North Brookfield which is a long long way from where he went missing. He must have been totally lost to wonder that far.
