Peace marchers from across upstate NY to rally at Fort Drum

SYRACUSE (AP) - Opponents to the war in Iraq will join together from across upstate New York beginning this week for a 10-day march to the U.S. Army's Fort Drum in northern New York.

Organizers say the event, called New York State Marches for Peace, will include peace activists, soldiers and veterans from a coalition of groups.

The peace walk will begin Thursday from Utica, Rochester and Ithaca with the marchers converging in Pulaski before heading to Fort Drum, where the protesters will rally on May 17 - Armed Forces Day - in a daylong event.

The march will unfold over several routes, passing through many towns and cities including Syracuse, and picking up people along the way. Organizers say people can join the march for one hour, one day, one week or ten days.

Why don't they march to Senator Clinton's house downstate? She voted for the war! Oooh she is not there, she is too busy using New York as a stepping stone for the Presidency instead of sticking to the Oath she took to serve as our Senator. Those soldiers are sticking to their oath!

Why are they marching to Fort Drum? What is that going to do, or prove? I really wish that people would leave our military personel alone. They chose to be in the military, and they know that there is war. So why do you continue to do this to them? Leave them be. If you want walk to Washington DC but not to a military site.

Protesting at Ft. Drum will not accomplish anything. The Military does not say when or why to go to war, they are orderd to. The people who give those orders are in Washington D.C. and the Military must follow those orders. If people want to protest the war, they should target the people who make them go to war and not the soldiers who have to fight it.

Not supporting our war, is like slapping our soldiers in the face. Why don't you get behind our troops. Instead of spending all this money and time protesting, spent it on a care package for our troops. This war is a terrible thing, you guys make it harder.
