The countdown is on! Who has the best business plan in town? Mohawk Valley Edge has $10,000 cash and $10,000 worth of professional services lined up for the winner.

The business plan competition drew 13 entries this year. Only four are left standing. Let's check out the plan submitted by KVA Systems.

"Many of the airlines are struggling due to high fuel prices," said Harris Frank of KVA Systems. "The air framers, the people making the planes and the engines and the components that go on the airplane, are developing new products...and are selling a lot of airplanes."

KVA Systems wants to take advantage of that trend and start a business right here in the Mohawk Valley. Harris Frank, an aerospace engineer, has developed what he calls a Brusless DC Motor.

"It's an electric motor that will drive things like fuel pumps, blowers," said Frank. "Things that today are driven by pneumatic hydraulics."

Whether it be a small Cesna or a large commercial aircraft, every size plane needs this motor to go up, down, left and right. And Frank says there is not a clear leader in terms of manufacturing these motors.

He wants KVA Systems to control the reins.

"There are lots of good colleges in New York State a lot of loyal employee-based people who live in Oneida County and Central New York, love it here, and want to have good jobs," he said. "KVA Systems will put those people to work."

If KVA Systems takes home the grand prize, the money will go towards building the very first model.
