Utica Police Officers head to D.C. to honor Officer Thomas Lindsey

UTICA - They said they would never forget him. And Tuesday, more than a year after Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey's murder, his fellow officers are traveling hundreds of miles to keep that promise.

It was still dark out Tuesday morning when we caught up with some UPD Officers who were packing up, getting ready to leave for a candlelight vigil in Washington, DC to honor fallen officers around the country.

The name of Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in April 2007, is already on the national law enforcement officers memorial.

His co-workers are looking forward to Tuesday night's candlelight vigil honoring Officer Lindsey and all the officers who gave their lives protecting the public they serve.

Some UPD officers drove down Tuesday morning and are driving back Wednesday. Seventeen Utica Police Officers got together to make the trip to Washington.

Aside from 2001 and the September 11th terrorist attacks, 2007 was the deadliest year for cops since 1989.
