Utica man sentenced in Pennsylvania to 7 to 18 years in 14-year-old stabbing
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania judge says an upstate New
York man only recently arrested in a 14-year-old stabbing should have come forward at the time. Judge Todd Hoover sentenced 33-year-old Rafael Rios Sr. of Utica, N.Y., on Wednesday to 7 to 18 years in prison. He's pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the stabbing of Leonard Wansley. Wansley was last seen leaving a Harrisburg bar about 2 a.m. on July 19, 1994. Rios says Wansley offered him drugs and tried to sexually assault him. He confessed in September after DNA tests showed his blood was found in Wansley's car. Hoover says Rios should have come forward at the time because "The objective facts show the victim was the aggressor." --- Information from: The Patriot-News, www.pennlive.com (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
