Officer Joseph Corr honored during Ride for Missing Children

By JOLEEN FERRIS

KIRKLAND - The riders took a moment this morning for a moving tribute, honoring murdered New Hartford Police Officer Joe Corr.

The riders passed through the parking lot of the Byrne Dairy on Route 5 in Kirkland.

Officer Corr was shot and killed in the woods behind the store following a jewelry store robbery in February 2006.

Bagpipers played as Officer Corr's family watched the riders pass; many riders saluted and some were obviously fighting back tears.

Thank you first year rider. I am glad I live in this community who honor heros for protecting each and every one of us. Just look at his beautiful little daughter who does not have her father to see her on her first day of school or walk her down the aisle when she gets married. I don't know how they move on except it must make them feel better that Officer Corr is honored for his duty to all of us

Officer Corr was honored for his personal role in past rides. He and other fallen officers were also honored as show of solidarity with the law enforcement community for their role in helping to keep children safe and their role in searching for criminals who take and harm kids. Honoring good men like Officer Corr is what grateful citizens of a community do. He will continued to be honored each and every ride.
