12 year old dead after off-road motorcycle accident in Town of Leyden
LEYDEN - On May 26, 2008, at approximately 3:10 p.m., the New York State Police in Lowville, responded to a fatal off-road motorcycle collision, on Hines Road in the Town of Leyden. The collision occurred approximately 750 feet west of Fitch road. Multimedia Kody Beasock, 12, was operating a 125 CC Suzuki off-road motorcycle. He was east on Hines Road, in front of his residence. Kody Beasock was positioned towards the center of the roadway, and to his right, traveling in the same direction, was an uninvolved 15 year old juvenile, on a 125 CC Yamaha off-road motorcycle. His brother, Christopher Beasock, 16, was operating a 250 CC Honda off-road motorcycle, west on Hines Road. Christopher Beasock was positioned towards the center of the roadway, and to his right, traveling in the same direction, was an uninvolved 16 year old, on a 250 CC Yamaha off-road motorcycle. Witness statements and scene evidence indicate that Kody Beasock looked over his right shoulder, while his motorcycle drifted to the left, and struck Christopher Beasock, head on, in the middle of the roadway. Both operators ejected, and both motorcycles came to rest in roadside Kody Beasock was pronounced dead at scene by the Lewis County Coroner. Kody Beasock was then brought to Lowville Hospital pending post mortem examination. Christopher Beasock was brought to University Hospital in Syracuse, where he remained in critical condition as of Monday night. According to New York State Police, speed, failure to keep right, and driver inattention on behalf of Kody Beasock were all contributing factors.
