UTICA - The man known as "Flaco" was sentenced in Oneida County Court today. Oneida County Court Judge, Barry Donalty, sentenced Wesley Molina Cirino to life in prison without parole.

Cirino was convicted of killing Utica Police Officer Tom Lindsey back in March. As expected, it was an emotional day, as friends, family and fellow police officers packed the ceremonial court room for the sentencing.

"What right did you have to play god?" asked Christina Lindsey, Officer Lindsey's sister. "What right did you have to say who gets to live or die?"

"I don't know why you did it, I don't care why you did it," said Edwina Lindsey, Officer Lindsey's mother. "You robbed all of us of a great man."

"We will never ever see him again, and for that I hate you, I hate you," said Lisa Karpowich, Officer Lindsey's girlfriend at the time of his death.

Officer Lindsey's Girlfriend two sisters, and fellow cop spoke before the court. They didn't ask for answers of why Cirino killed Lindsey, instead they reminded "Flaco" of what he took from them.

"When my children see that first star at night, they always make a wish, they both make the same wish every time," Karpowich said. "They wish for Tom to come back to us."

"I hope, we all hope, you spend everyday of the rest of your worthless life suffering in the little hole you call home," said Lieutenant Nick LoConti of the Utica Police Department.

Judge Donalty sentenced to Molina-Cirino to life in prison without parole, the maximum sentence. But to some wasn't enough

"Unfortunately New York State does not have a death penalty, which is what you deserve," LoConti said.

"And I hope you spend the rest of your life behind bars like the animal you are," Karpowich said. "I hope you rot in hell."

"On that day true justice will be served," LoConti said. "For that is the day that our friend, Tom Lindsey, will have his chance to look you in the eye and have his revenge."

Cirino himself addressed the court briefly, maintaining his innocence, and promising to appeal. His attorney Rebecca Wittman says the paper work for that appeal has already been started.
